Thick and shiny tresses are the dream of every woman. But, several factors lead to loss of huge chunks of hair, which is really embarrassing. We all hunt for a quick fix for this problem.

However, several home remedies work great in reducing hair loss. Before stepping into the homemade solutions, let’s take a glance at the causes of hair loss.

Reduce Hair Loss And Treatment Tips

    Consider your diet

Protein is the building block of the tissues in your body, including your hair. Make sure you are consuming enough proteins in your diet. The best sources of protein are milk, egg whites, and fish.

You also want to eat foods high in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon and mackerel two or three times a week or sprinkle a tablespoon or two of freshly ground flaxseed onto salads or cereal each day.

    Increase vitamins & minerals

Vitamin A is crucial to healthy hair because it “works with the fat synthesis.” Food products rich in vitamin A include leafy greens, carrots, and eggs.

Some of the most important minerals for hair health are calcium, copper, iron, magnesium and zinc. You can find lots of these in your favorite vegetables, or you may want to consider taking a daily mineral supplement.

    Regulate hormones

Many people who begin losing their hair early or without explanation find they have a hormonal imbalance. If you have other hormonal symptoms, look into natural supplements for hormone regulation and foods that promote healthy hormone levels.

    Drink more water

Staying hydrated is crucial to tissue growth and health. The hair shaft itself is largely made up of water. Set a goal to drink AT LEAST 64 ounces each day. Also, avoid carbonated sodas all of which will weaken your immune system and make your hair more likely to fall out.

    Breaking Bad Habits

Smoking reduces circulation, and this includes blood flow to the scalp. Drinking alcohol and caffeine will hamper the immune system and cause further hair fallout.

    Keep peace

Believe it or not, most of the time, the root cause for hair loss is stress and tension. Try meditation or yoga to help reduce stress and calm your mind.

    Exercise

Regular exercise allows sweat to clean out and unclog your hair pores. The exercise will also make you healthier overall which will help you grow longer, stronger locks.

    Oil scalp massages

Scalp massages help stimulate the hair follicles to increase hair growth! Take any natural oil – olive, coconut, almond – add a few drops of lavender or rosemary essential oil to it, and massage gently into your scalp. Put on a shower cap and leave it on for an hour, then shampoo your hair. Follow this remedy once a week. It smells great and is very relaxing! Your locks will seem thicker and stronger than ever.

    Essential oils

Lavender, rosemary, and thyme have been shown to help hair growth and prevent thinning or balding. Try massaging the essential oils into your hair after shampooing, or you can make this Rosemary & Lavender Hair Rinse that my sister Rebecca created.

    Natural juices

You can rub your scalp with garlic juice, onion juice or ginger juice. Leave it on overnight and wash it thoroughly in the morning. (I personally will stick with essential oils!)

    Antioxidants

Green tea contains antioxidants which prevent hair loss and boost hair growth. Apply warm green tea (two bags brewed in one cup of water) on your scalp and leave this mixture on for an hour and then rinse.

    Finally

Set your hair dryer on cool and low settings, and minimize your use of flat irons.

Don’t dye your hair more than one or two shades its normal color: The more severe the color change, the more chemicals you require, which can make hair break.

If you use hair gel or hair spray, don’t wait for it to dry before you comb through it, because the hair will harden and be more likely to break.

    Coconut Milk

Coconut milk is one of the richest sources to nourish the tissues of hair. Coconut milk can be obtained by grinding the grated coconut and squeezing its juice (milk). This is a natural home remedy to prevent hair loss.

    Aloe Vera

Pure aloe gel or aloe juice can be applied directly to the scalp. This can treat hair loss, which is caused due to the dry or infected scalp. After massaging the scalp with juice or gel, wait for a few hours and wash it away with lukewarm water.

    Oil Massage

Regular massage of hair and scalp with lukewarm oil stimulates the blood flow. Coconut oil is considered the best among other oils. Some other recommended oils are olive, jojoba, mustard, castor and almond.

    Indian Lilac (Neem)

Neem is a plant, which is ornamented with all the essential qualities. It is antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, anti-diabetic, sedative, and antiseptic in nature. It is not only useful in diseases but is also an excellent home remedy for hair loss. Boil leaves of neem in water until the water remains half. Let it cool and wash your hair once in a week with this water.

    Gooseberry (Amla)

Boil some dried amla in coconut oil till the oil gets black. Massaging the scalp with this oil will prove to be very effective. Amla can also be used alternatively by making its paste with shiksa kai. Apply the thick paste and wash it after a few minutes.

    Onion and Garlic

Both onion and garlic are a rich source of sulfur, and they help in the growth of hair. To apply onion, you need to chop it finely and extract out the juice. Massage the scalp well with this juice and wash off with a mild shampoo.

Onion can also be used with honey as a hair mask.

Garlic can be applied on the scalp by boiling it with coconut oil. Massage the scalp with this potion, two to three times a week, for best results.

    Hibiscus

Hibiscus flower has to revitalize properties, and it nourishes hair. Along with preventing an untimely growth of gray hair, it also keeps dandruff at bay. Hibiscus also helps in preventing hair loss.

    Egg

Eggs are a rich source of sulfur, iron, protein, phosphorus, iodine and zinc. It is an excellent remedy for re-growth of hair, especially when combined with olive oil.

    Pigeon Pea or Red Gram

Application of the fine and thick paste of red gram or pigeon pea is an effective way of curing hair loss, naturally.

    Lime and Black Pepper Seeds

Seeds of lime and black pepper, when ground finely and applied on the scalp, prove to be a very good cure for averting hair loss.

    Fenugreek

Fenugreek can also be applied to hair to prevent hair loss. It also softens the strands and provides luster to them. Make a fine paste of dried fenugreek seeds and apply it as a hair mask.

    Henna

Henna is widely used in Asian countries and is regarded as a major source of hair strengthening. Some people apply it as a hair mask by mixing powdered henna in the card.

    Homemade Hair Packs

A mixture of aloe vera, shiksa kai, amla, and neem powder can be applied to get thick and lustrous hair.

    Camphor and Curd

Take an equal amount of curd and camphor. Mix them and apply on the bald patches. Let it dry for at least two hours and then, wash. This treatment helps to fight with the problem of hair loss and baldness.

    Coriander Leaves

Take fresh coriander leaves and make a thick paste with it. Apply it on the scalp to cure the problem of hair loss, naturally.

    Liquorices

Apply ground licorices, mixed with milk and a pinch of saffron, for hair fall treatment.

    Geranium or Rosemary Leaves

Rinsing the hair with water, in which, geranium or rosemary leaves have been boiled, is a good natural remedy for curing hair loss at home.

    Ash Gourd

It also is an effective remedy for stopping hair fall.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Sage Tea

Rinsing hair with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and sage tea is again a helpful remedy. Apple cider vinegar helps in maintaining the balance of hair, thereby reducing hair loss.

    Curry Leaves

Curry leaves are a natural home remedy to treat baldness.

    Arnica

Arnica tincture, mixed with warm water, can be applied twice in a day in the form of a cream, ointment, or hair rinse to soothe the problem of hair loss. Arnica augments the blood circulation and promotes hair growth. This is again an effective remedy for hair loss in women.

    Safflower

Safflower is considered to be an excellent herb for widening blood vessels. Massaging the scalp for twenty minutes with the oil of safflower proves to be a great stimulant for hair growth and augments blood flow.

    Green Tea

Take 2 bags of green tea and brew them into one cup of water. Allow it to cool. Then, apply it on your hair. Wash off after 1 hour.

    Potatoes and Rosemary

Boil rosemary and potatoes in water. Then, filter the liquid and utilize it as a hair rinse.
